The authorities used the census list of Jews of October 1940 to update the status of persons listed. Lists made in 1942 reprise the 1940 list) with marginal indications as to whether given individuals are deceased, deported, or “disappeared” (meaning they do not have a current address for them, some probably having fled to the South. A letter from the Abbe Loridan of Bouquemaison supports a Jewish family from that town and is critical of the regime’s anti-Jewish policy.
